The Wilds

The Wilds property is more than 10,000 acres of reclaimed land dontated by AEP. The mountain bike trails are on the north side of SR 146 and the conservation center and animal park are on the south side, a four mile drive from the trail head.

The trailhead is marked with a sign, and there are plans for a kiosk, shelter house and toilet, but these are not in place yet so stop for facilities on the way there!

Description and Review

There are currently 14 miles of trail with moderate to steep short climbs and fun downhills, built up jumps throughout the trails (5 or so, not including Death Drop), a few rock gardens, some pine areas, field areas, two scenic high wall overlooks and some typical Ohio forest. The trails do fairly well in the mud. Not was well as Mohican but better than Dillon.

Difficulty Level

Intermediate, with advanced sections.

From the parking lot, you can head in east (into the woods) or west (up the hill into the field). We recommend you head east to start, although starting out west is less technical. From the trail head going east, after a couple of small creek crossings and a few tenths of a mile, there is a fork in the trail. Go right for Bumpy hollow and to continue on intermediate trails, or go left to skip that trail and head into the system from the haul road.
